Today I'm going to be sharing with you my favourite things from the month of December, including books, beauty items, music, apps and movies. All links to everything mentioned will be at the end of the post. Hope you all enjoy and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
BOOKS
My favourite book that I read in the month of December is Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins. This is the third book in the Anna and the French Kiss trilogy and possibly one of my favourite contemporary trilogies of all time. This particular instalment revolves around a girl named Isla who has had a crush on the same boy Josh for most of her teenage life, but she's too shy to ever speak to him. When she sees him away from school for the first time, while she's completely high on the sedatives the dentist gave her, she starts something amazing.
This book was beautifully written, but I expect nothing less from Stephanie since I adore her writing style. It was fluffy and cutesy and the perfect end to the series. I'd heard mixed things about the finale novel, a lot of people didn't think it lived up to the other two books so I was hesitant to pick it up. However I completely disagreed, I thought it fitted in with the other books and their characters perfectly. I of course gave this 5 out of 5 stars.
BEAUTY
My top beauty item of the month is the Mac False Lashes mascara in extreme black. I received a sample of this in the mail when I ordered a lipstick from the Mac website, and I loved it so much that I purchased a full size. The mascara is so quick and easy to apply, it lengthens your eyelashes drastically with even just one coat. It adds so much volume and really is extreme black! It gives such great definition to my eyes, it made them stand out like never before. There were no clumpy bits that stuck to the end of my eyelashes like I usually get with mascara and although this is a bit more expensive than my usual brands, it was definitely worth it for the quality. I also love the minimalistic packaging.
MUSIC
Music pick this month is Rosanna by Strangers. I honestly have no idea how I found this band, I don't remember subscribing to their channel on YouTube but they only have a small number of subscribers so I'm so unsure of how I came across them, but so glad I did! I love this song so much I've started using it as my intro on my YouTube channel! It's like Catfish and the Bottlemen/Oasis/The Courteeners. The lead singer Liam has such an amazing voice and the whole tone of the song is uplifting and indie af which I love. The instrumental half way through is played so beautifully too, I will probably be downloading every single song this band do. (I hope they upload more soon!)
APP
The app of the month for me is called Wish, and I'm completely unhealthily addicted to it! If you've never heard of Wish, it's a shopping app that has crazy deals on various items such as clothes, home decor, makeup even gadgets. With new deals every hour, and discounts on genuine items of up to 95%, it's the perfect place to get everything you need. I just wish I'd found this before Christmas! I recently bought 24 Zoeva brushes, for £8. If you know what Zoeva brushes are, you know how insane this deal is. Items can be found reduced from over £100 to less than 10, but each deal is only available for a certain amount of time, which is what causes the addiction as you think "ooo I don't need this at all but it's so cheap and will only be that cheap for another 10 minutes I just have to get it." If you're a complete shopaholic like me, this app is perfect. It's availiable for both apple and andrioid users.MOVIE
Last but not least, is my movie for the month of December. It's got to be Nativity! It's quite an old film, I must admit, but I only watched it for the first time this Christmas and it was absolutely hilarious. With great actors such as Martin Freeman and Marc Wootton, this heart-warming Christmas movie will certainly brighten up your cold Winter night. I can't believe I'd never seen this before! I'm sure most of you know what it's about but if you don't, it involves a group of school children who are constantly looked down on and deemed as rubbish at everything, trying to put on the best nativity play in the town. Martin Freeman plays their uptight, Christmas hating teacher Mr Maddens, who is completely heartbroken over his ex-girlfriend. He is determined to make this play the best to show up his old friend Gordon, who teaches at the snobby school down the road. But when he tells one little lie, it spirals completely out of control.Martin is a fantastic actor and this made me feel all kind of emotions, it made me laugh and cry all at once and if you haven't already seen it, I would recommend watching this brilliant comedy in Christmas 2017!
So that's it guys! We can finally say goodbye to what was, no exaggeration, a disaster of a year and welcome new and hopefully better things in 2017! Let me know what other topics you'd like to see in my favourite's video and as ever, thank you for reading!
