Book Review- Alone

Hi guys! Another book review here as I just finished reading 'Alone' by Lee Allen, a fast paced, short psychological thriller that will leave you wanting more.

I would firstly like to thank Lee for kindly sending me a copy of his book for review.

In this novel, main character Jess sets to spend Christmas time with an old friend in his Aunt's mansion. However things take a downward turn the second she arrives. Living in the creepy mansion she is forced to confront her own past, and the past of her friend and we discover many things about each of the characters which allows us to connect with them more.

Image result for alone lee allenI absolutely loved this book. Set in December, it was perfect for me to read over the holiday season and left me feeling incredibly emotional. It's one of those stories that really makes you think about life and makes you appreciate everything within it. I honestly had to stop after a few sentences and just let everything Jess was saying sink in, it promotes some fantastic morals and I related to everything in a way I didn't think was possible.

I must admit I was very confused throughout most of the book but honestly I think that's the point. Allen makes you question what's true and what isn't, revealing everything within the very last chapter. The plot twists were shocking and not something you could guess, a totally non predictable book all the way through.

His writing style is beautiful, using descriptive language throughout so you can really imagine the scenery around you. He draws you in completely and makes you feel a part of the story and the characters lives. You won't want to put this book down.

If I had one criticism, it would be that the main character Jess cries too much. It started to get irritating after a while.

Aside from that, fantastic book, I would definitely recommend you pick this up and I will 100% be reading more of his work.

Overall I gave this book:
